KIDOS… get ready for  kindergarten!

KIDOS PRESCHOOL provides a safe, secure, and enriching environment where children will laugh, sing, play, create, and explore as they learn basic preschool skills. At Kidos we want to lay a firm foundation for each child’s life. In doing so, we have incorporated , morals and values along with the educational skills they will need to prepare their hearts and minds to enter kindergarten. Our aim is to help children develop happy, healthy attitudes toward learning and positive feelings about themselves as they grow. The curriculum encompasses all areas of development: social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.

Kidos uses a very fun and exciting Curriculum.  It covers: Alphabet & Phonics, Numbers & Counting, Shapes, Colors, Handwriting, Science, Motor Skills, Transportation & Safety, Matching & Opposites, Manners for Little Ones, Step by Step Life Skills.

OPERATION POLICIES

Preschool sessions meet from 9:00am-1:00pm.

Student teacher ration is 8 to 1. Maximum class size at Kidos is 16.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children on time for each preschool session. The staff can not appropriately supervise children who arrive to early. Children who arrive late often find it difficult to become involved in the on-going activities.

Children not picked up within 15 minutes of the end of a preschool session will be charged a $5 late fee for child care.

Kidos will be closed if Wake County Schools close due to inclement weather. For school closing information please listen to your local radio or TV stations.

POLICIES FOR DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP

To ensure the safety of the children, all parents must be sure their child is given into the care of one of Kidos staff before leaving.

Children are released only to parents or other adults listed on the child’s enrollment card unless written or verbal permission is given to the teacher to release the child to an alternate person. Those picking up children must come into the preschool before the child will be released. Children will not be released to anyone under the age of 16 without a written request from the parents or guardian.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

Kidos overall discipline policy is aimed at helping children learn to develop internal behavior controls. A variety of positive guidance techniques are used.

Teachers praise children’s positive behaviors.

Teachers redirect children’s behavior. They suggest alternatives to unacceptable behavior.

Teachers focus on the child’s behavior that is unacceptable or inappropriate rather than the child himself.

Rules are developed which are reasonable, definable, and enforceable.

A “time out” period may be used when a child’s behavior is out of control. The child is taken away from the busy classroom to regain his composure privately. A teacher remains with the child during a “time out” period.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES

In the event of an accident of injury the parents will be notified. If they cannot be located, their alternate, or the family physician, if treatment is required, will be contacted. A written record of any accident or injury is kept on file at school.

Parents must notify the preschool of any information regarding the updating of health records on the child’s enrollment form.

To safeguard the health of all our children we request that families follow these guidelines when deciding if a child is well enough to attend school:

SYMPTOMS: KEEP THE CHILD HOME UNTIL:

Fever Fever registers below 100 and the child is acting well

Runny nose Thick yellow or green discharge clears up

Vomiting or Diarrhea No further problem exists and the child is eating normally

Rash Physician determines the cause and recommends the child return to school

If his/her teacher judges a child ill, the family will be contacted and requested to come for the child. The child will be separated from other children until a parent or guardian comes for the child. Adult supervision will be maintained during the time the child is separated fro the other children.

Parents are asked to notify the school if their child has any contagious condition. Parents of all children in that class are then notified to be on the alert for early symptoms.
